Agricultural Shows are famous for the promotion of ‘Crafts’ and Ballymena show has a tradition of working with local schools, Womens Institutes, YFCs, Homes and Day Centres to display the talents of the local people with Baking, Needlework, Crafts, Photography, Painting, Poetry and Flower Arranging.

Trophy Winners for 2009

The ‘Early Riser’ trophy was awarded once again to Angela Currie for the Exhibitor with the most points in the baking section while Annie Hamilton gained the most points in the Needlework and Crafts section  and was awarded the ‘R Vogan Sewing Machines’ Trophy.                                                                  

Isobel Petticrew received the ‘Sara Orr’ Silver Salver for the Best Exhibit in the Floral Section but the ‘Ben Vista’ Rose Bowl was shared by Myrtle Calderwood, Karen Frew, Heather Kerr, Mary Knox, and Isobel Petticrew for the Exhibitor with the highest points in the Floral Art Open Section.

The ‘Ballymena Borough Council’ Runcimann Bowl was awarded to Gracehill & Galgorm WI for the WI gaining the most Points In the WI Section (Ballymena District Institutes). 

Wilson House Resource Centre walked away with the ‘Ballymena Medical Supplies’ Shield for the Home/Day Centre gaining the most points in this section and Carniny Primary School was awarded the ‘Jane’s Kitchen’ Trophy for the School gaining the most points in their classes.

Finally the ‘R & C Graphics’ Shield went to Athena Richards for the Best Overall Poem in the Schools section. 

2010 Classes
