BALLYMENA SHOW 2011
Ballymena Show was held on Friday 27th May & Saturday 28th May at Ballymena Showgrounds and unfortunately suffered from bad weather. This however did not deter the exhibitors from turning out with their livestock and exhibits for judging and results have been listed on the appropriate section pages.
FRIDAY 27TH MAY (All Horses except Clydesdales) - Trade stands NOT open
The showgrounds came alive with horses including Ex-Racehorses, Working & Ridden Hunters, Fresians, Miniatures, Thoroughbreds, Non-Thoroughbreds and Hunter Brood Mares as well as horsejumping (which commenced at 9.30am). Numerous qualifiers for the Irish Shows Association and the RDS Beeders competition were awarded. Poultry, Home Industries and Floral Art exhibits were judged but were not available for viewing until the Saturday.
Champion Overall Horse was "Ballycapple Blackbird" shown by Desmond Gibson.

SATURDAY 28TH MAY - Main day of the show
Trade stands opened at 9am to the general public and livestock judging commenced from 9.30am - Ponyjumping, Pony Showing, Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Shearing, YFC competitions and lots more.
The parade of champion cattle was a spectacle with commentating by Libby Clarke.
Congratulaltions to the Supreme Champion exhibited by John A Patterson.
The Sheep section was delighted to be in the hub of the activities and Mark Priestley was awarded Supreme Championship with his Suffolk.
Overall Pony Championship was won by Elaine Sherrard.
Supreme Champion bird in the Poultry section was awarded to D & J Heron.
MOST APPROPRIATELY DRESSED
Mr James Owens from Broughshane was awarded 1st prize in the men's competition whilst Anne Simpson from Cullybackey wowed the Judges and received 1st prize in the ladies section.
